COST BREAKDOWN / OPUS CLIP

Opus Clip pricing: what each plan really costs

Opus Clip sells credits, not clips. This breakdown lists every published plan, converts credits into source minutes, and shows how to work out what one publishable clip costs you.

Opus Clip pricing at a glance: plans and prices

Opus Clip has four plans: Free ($0), Starter ($15 a month), Pro ($29 a month, or $14.50 a month on annual billing) and Business (custom). Every plan is metered in credits, and one credit covers one minute of source video. The table below is copied from the vendor pages on October 11, 2026; it is a price observation, not a checkout we completed.

Source: opus.pro/pricing and the credits help article, checked October 11, 2026. The pricing page advertises “save up to 50%” with annual billing; Starter is listed as monthly only. Pro can be bought in multiple packs, each adding 300 monthly credits.

What the paid tiers add, in the vendor’s own words: Starter removes the watermark, adds the Virality Score, auto-posting to YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels, the editor and filler-and-silence removal. Pro adds a team workspace with 2 seats per pack (up to 4), multiple aspect ratios, export to Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, a social scheduler, AI B-Roll, on-demand credit top-ups, 100 GB of storage and what the pricing card calls “Limited API Access”.

How Opus Clip credits work

OpusClip’s credits article states the rule plainly: processing costs 1 credit per minute of the original video. A 30-minute recording uses 30 credits regardless of how many clips come back. Videos shorter than a minute are rounded up to 1 credit; longer videos with partial minutes are rounded down, so a 4.5-minute file costs 4 credits.

Two details change the arithmetic. First, you do not have to process the whole file: the processing-timeframe slider lets you send only the segment you care about, which is the simplest way to save credits on long streams. Second, posting to X is charged separately at 3 credits per clip per X account; failed or deleted scheduled posts are refunded automatically.

Do Opus Clip credits roll over?

On monthly plans, credits expire after 60 days, so unused credits carry over for one extra month. Annual plans deliver the full year’s credits up front (3,600 on Pro) and they expire after 12 months. If you cancel, remaining credits keep their original expiry date. Pro users who have not downloaded any clip from a project can refund that project’s credits within 14 days of upload.

Starter150 / month2.5 hours$0.100
Pro, monthly300 / month5 hours$0.097

*Our arithmetic: plan price ÷ included credits, rounded. Assumes every credit is used and excludes tax. A minute of source is not a finished clip.

Cost per publishable clip

Opus Clip pricing is quoted per credit, and credits measure input. What you care about is output you would actually post. Our testing method therefore reports two numbers for every tool:

  • Cash cost per accepted clip = everything you paid in the period (subscription, packs, top-ups) ÷ clips you accepted in the period. Unused credits count against you.
  • Repair minutes per accepted clip = editing time spent on clips you kept, including caption fixes and reframing. Multiply by your hourly rate to compare tools fairly.

A worked example (hypothetical inputs, not test results)

Suppose you publish one 60-minute podcast a week. Four episodes use 240 credits, which fits inside Pro’s 300 monthly credits but not Starter’s 150. On Pro monthly you pay $29. If you accept 6 clips per episode, that is 24 clips and roughly $1.21 per accepted clip before labor. If only 2 clips per episode are good enough, the same plan costs $3.63 per clip. The subscription did not change; the acceptance rate did. Those inputs are invented to show the formula; we will replace them with logged results once our Opus Clip review runs are complete.

The example also shows why “cheapest plan” and “cheapest clip” differ. A Starter subscriber with the same podcast would run out of credits after 2.5 episodes and need to upgrade or skip an episode, so the lower sticker price does not cover the workload at all.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan includes 60 credits a month, renders up to 1080p, applies the OpusClip watermark and stops allowing exports after 3 days. It is enough to judge whether Opus Clip picks sensible moments from your kind of content, but not to run a publishing schedule. The full limits, the 7-day trial and the watermark rules are covered in Is Opus Clip free?

Which Opus Clip plan fits which workload

Pick a plan from monthly source minutes, not from the feature list. Add up the recordings you will process in a typical month, subtract the parts you will trim with the timeframe slider, and compare the result with the allowances above.

  • Under one hour a month, testing the idea: Free is enough to evaluate selection quality, as long as you accept the watermark and the 3-day export window.
  • Up to about 2.5 hours a month, solo creator: Starter covers the minutes and removes the watermark, but stays at 9:16 and has no scheduler.
  • Up to 5 hours a month, or you need 16:9 / 1:1, a team seat, scheduling or editor hand-off: Pro monthly.
  • Steady weekly volume for a year: Pro annual halves the per-credit price, but you pay $174 up front, so only commit after a representative trial.
  • More than 10 seats, contracts or high-volume API use: Business, priced on request.

Opus Clip pricing vs alternatives

Starting prices are easy to compare and, like Opus Clip pricing itself, almost meaningless on their own, because every vendor meters a different unit: Opus Clip and Vizard count source minutes, Klap counts generated clips, and Vugola and Submagic use their own credits. Use the table to shortlist, then compare cost per accepted clip on the same source.

How to cancel an Opus Clip subscription

According to the help center, web subscriptions are cancelled from the Subscription page:

  1. Open your profile menu in the Opus Clip dashboard and choose Subscription.
  2. Click Manage plan.
  3. Click Cancel subscription at the bottom, then Continue to cancel.

The change takes effect at the start of the next billing cycle. Opus Clip does not offer a pause; you can cancel and resubscribe later. If you subscribed through the iOS App Store, Apple handles cancellation in your iPhone’s subscription settings. Download anything you need first: the cancellation screen warns that projects stop being accessible after 3 days. The step-by-step version, including downgrades, is in our Opus Clip cancellation guide.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Opus Clip?

On October 11, 2026 the Opus Clip pricing page listed Free at $0, Starter at $15 per month (monthly billing only), Pro at $29 per month or $14.50 per month when billed $174 a year, and Business at custom pricing. Prices exclude tax.

Is Opus Clip worth it?

It depends on how many of the generated clips you actually publish and how long repairs take. Divide what you pay in a month by the clips you accepted that month. We have not completed hands-on runs yet, so we do not assign a value score.

Does Opus Clip have a free trial?

Yes. The Starter and Pro buttons on the pricing page say “Start your free trial” and “No credit card required”. OpusClip’s support docs say a trial account converts to the Free plan after 7 days and that trial exports carry the OpusClip watermark.

Can I cancel Opus Clip anytime?

Yes. OpusClip’s support documentation describes cancelling from the Subscription page under your profile: Manage plan, then Cancel subscription, then Continue to cancel. Changes take effect at the start of the next billing cycle. App Store subscriptions are cancelled through Apple.

How many credits does a video use?

Opus Clip charges 1 credit per minute of source video processed. Videos under a minute cost 1 credit, partial minutes are rounded down, and you can process only part of a video with the processing-timeframe slider.
