Submagic pricing: what each plan costs per video, per minute and per year

Submagic sells AI captions and short-form editing by the video, with a hard cap on how long each video can be. Here is what Starter, Pro and Business cost on monthly and yearly billing, what each plan includes, and what that works out to per video, as read on Submagic’s own pricing page and help center on October 23, 2026.

Submagic plans at a glance

Submagic pricing has three self-serve plans, Starter, Pro and Business, plus a Custom plan through sales. All three are priced per member per month, and each comes with a monthly pool of credits that the pricing page translates into a number of videos.

Source: Submagic pricing, read in a rendered browser on October 23, 2026, with both the Monthly and Yearly toggle positions. The page defaults to Yearly and shows prices in USD with a currency selector. Pro’s 2K export is from the comparison table and the export quality help article.

The key number on every plan is the per-video length cap, not the price. Starter at $19 handles videos up to 2 minutes, which suits Shorts, Reels and TikToks you have already cut. Anything longer needs Pro (5 minutes) or Business (30 minutes). Submagic’s help center confirms the same caps and adds a maximum file size of 3,000 MB per video on every plan.

The pricing page converts credits to videos at a steady rate: 45 credits for 15 videos, 120 for 40 and 300 for 100, which is 3 credits per video on all three plans (our arithmetic from the page’s own numbers). The cards also say the credits can be used to “Generate AI videos and AI images”. We did not find the credit cost of AI video or image generation stated on the pages we read, so we do not estimate how far credits go if you use them for that.

Monthly vs yearly billing

The pricing page says yearly billing saves “up to 41%”. Here is what that means for each plan:

Submagic yearly savings, checked October 23, 2026
Plan12 × monthly priceYearly (12 × $/mo shown)Saving shown by SubmagicDiscount (our arithmetic)
Starter$228$144$84About 37%
Pro$468$276$192About 41%
Business$828$492$336About 41%

The savings Submagic prints match 12 times the monthly difference exactly, so the yearly price is the per-month figure times 12, paid up front. Note that the full 41% only applies to Pro and Business; Starter’s yearly discount is closer to 37%. Because Submagic’s help center says it does not offer refunds, a yearly plan is a bigger commitment than a monthly one: test on monthly or on the free trial first.

What each Submagic plan includes

  • Starter ($19, or $12 yearly): 45 credits (15 videos) up to 2 minutes each, no watermark, AI auto captions, free B-rolls and audio, text-based trimming, 1080p at 30 FPS export and API and integrations at 10 minutes a month. The comparison table lists standard caption templates and standard B-roll, and also gives Starter AI Description and Magic B-rolls.
  • Pro ($39, or $23 yearly): everything in Starter plus 120 credits (40 videos) up to 5 minutes each, Storyblocks B-rolls and audio, AI auto zooms, AI removal of bad takes and silences, AI clean audio, publishing and analytics for social (1 publishing profile per platform) and Brand Kit. The comparison table adds premium caption templates, premium B-roll with movie clips, 2K export, custom fonts, AI Actors, AI hook titles, AI filler-word removal and AI eye contact correction.
  • Business ($69, or $41 yearly): everything in Pro plus 300 credits (up to 100 videos) up to 30 minutes each, 4K and 60 FPS export, logos and brand assets, a custom words dictionary, priority support and rendering, API and integrations at 100 minutes a month, and publishing from multiple social accounts (3 profiles per platform in the comparison table).
  • Custom (contact sales): custom videos per month, minutes per video, number of members, Magic Clips limits and API limits, unlimited custom templates, a dedicated customer success contact, and advanced security and SSO.

One inconsistency on the page: the Business card says “Create 10 custom templates”, while the comparison table lists 3 custom templates on Pro and 5 on Business. We could not tell which is current. If custom templates matter to you, confirm the number in the app before you pay.

All three paid plans export without a watermark. The watermark only applies to free-trial exports (see Is Submagic free?).

Submagic cost per video and per minute

Because each plan buys a fixed number of videos with a fixed length cap, it is easy to work out the best-case cost. These figures assume you use every video in the month and that each one runs to the plan’s maximum length; shorter videos cost the same per video and more per minute.

Submagic cost per video and per minute of video (our arithmetic from published prices)
PlanPer video, monthlyPer video, yearlyMax minutes a month (videos × cap)Per minute at max length, monthly
Starter$1.27$0.8030$0.63
Pro$0.98$0.58200$0.20
Business$0.69$0.413,000$0.02

Two things follow. First, the cost per video only falls modestly from plan to plan (from $1.27 to $0.69 on monthly billing), so if you make 15 short clips a month, Starter is the cheapest way in. Second, the cost per minute falls steeply because the length cap rises much faster than the price. If your source videos run longer than 2 minutes, the real choice is between Pro and Business, not between Starter and Pro.

These are upper bounds from list prices, not measured results. We have not run Submagic projects for this page. Business says “up to” 100 videos, and credits spent on AI-generated videos or images would reduce the number of edited videos you get, by an amount we could not verify.

For the same calculation across other tools, see AI clipping cost per minute.

Submagic API pricing

Every plan includes some API and integration minutes: the comparison table lists 10 minutes a month on Starter and Pro and 100 minutes a month on Business. The Starter and Business cards show the same 10 and 100 minutes. If you need more, the pricing page sells API credit packs that you add after buying a plan:

Submagic API credit packs, checked October 23, 2026
PackPricePer minute (Submagic)
250 minutes$57 a month$0.23
500 minutes$75 a month$0.15
1,000 minutes$150 a month$0.15
2,000 minutes$300 a month$0.15
5,000 minutes$500 a month$0.10
10,000 minutes$1,000 a month$0.10

Submagic’s help center explains how API minutes are counted: 1 credit covers up to 1 minute of video, and any fraction of a minute is rounded up. A 30-second video uses 1 credit, a 61-second video uses 2, and a 150-second video uses 3. Every processed video uses at least 1 credit, so the API is cheapest per second for clips that run close to a whole number of minutes.

Magic Clips add-on

Magic Clips is Submagic’s feature for turning long videos such as podcasts, interviews and webinars into short clips. It is not part of the Starter, Pro or Business cards: Submagic’s Magic Clips guide describes it as an add-on subscription that you activate from your account (My Account → Add Magic Clips). The help center’s cost article lists the Magic Clips add-on at $19 a month for 10 video uploads. The pricing page itself does not print a Magic Clips price (it only mentions custom Magic Clips limits on the Custom plan), so treat that figure as the help center’s, last updated September 30, 2026.

If long-form clipping is your main job, compare per-minute clippers before you add it: see Opus Clip pricing and the Submagic alternatives list.

Is Submagic free?

Not as a plan. The pricing page lists no free tier, but it says “No credit card required” and offers “Try For Free”. Submagic’s help center says the free trial lets you upload 3 short videos and edit them the way you want, and that you need a subscription to download them without a watermark. The help center does not state the length limit for trial videos, so we do not quote one.

In practice the trial is a way to test caption quality and the editor on your own footage, not a way to publish for free. For tools with a free plan you can keep using, see AI video free plans and is CapCut free.

Payment, cancelling and refunds

  • Payment: the help center lists three ways to pay: Link, credit card or PayPal.
  • Refunds: “we do not offer refunds for our SaaS”, according to the help center, which says users accept this in the general conditions of use when they sign up.
  • Cancelling: go to your profile, click “Go To Stripe Portal”, then “Cancel Subscription”. You can also pause your subscription for a few months; it renews as normal when it resumes.
  • Teams: prices are per member. The help center says you can create a workspace to share projects, the subscription and templates with teammates.

Which Submagic plan to choose

  • Captioning short clips you have already cut: Starter. Fifteen videos of up to 2 minutes a month at $19, or $12 billed yearly.
  • Talking-head videos up to 5 minutes, with silence and bad-take removal: Pro. It is the cheapest plan with AI removal of bad takes and silences, clean audio, auto zooms, Storyblocks B-roll and social publishing.
  • Long recordings, 4K or several brands: Business. It is the only self-serve plan with 30-minute videos, 4K at 60 FPS, logos and brand assets, priority rendering and 100 API minutes.
  • Long podcasts you want cut into clips automatically: look at the Magic Clips add-on, and compare it with dedicated clippers that bill per source minute.
  • Automation at volume: any plan plus an API pack. The 5,000- and 10,000-minute packs bring the price down to $0.10 a minute.

Submagic against other caption and clip tools

Submagic bills by the video, with a length cap. Most clipping tools bill differently: Opus Clip charges credits per source minute, and caption-and-edit apps such as Captions sell a monthly credit pool for AI features. Editors such as Descript and CapCut Pro are priced by plan rather than by video. Which unit is cheapest depends on whether your sources are short and finished or long and raw. If you are weighing a switch, our list of Submagic alternatives sorts the options by why people leave, and best AI clip makers covers the clipping side. For every tool side by side, use the AI video pricing tracker.

How we checked these prices

We read Submagic’s pricing page on October 23, 2026 in a rendered browser, with the billing toggle set to Monthly and to Yearly, and read the Submagic help-center articles listed in the sources the same day. The page’s raw HTML also contains price figures that the rendered cards do not display (for example “$40 /month” near Pro and “$120 /month” near Business); we quote only the prices shown to visitors, which match the help center’s $19, $39 and $69. Per-video, per-minute and yearly totals are our arithmetic from those prices. We have not bought a Submagic plan or run test projects for this page, nobody paid for inclusion, and there are no affiliate links. Prices change, so check Submagic’s pricing page before you buy.
