Source: runwayml.com/pricing, checked October 21, 2026. Seconds for paid plans are Runway’s own figures. *Free-plan seconds are our arithmetic at the 12 credits per second Runway gives for Gen-4.5. Pro and Max also list unlimited Topaz AI upscaling and Seedance 2.5.
What the credits buy
Runway prices each model per clip length. On October 21, 2026 its table listed Gen-4.5 at 60 credits per 5 seconds, Aleph 2.0 at 140 credits per 5 seconds, Seedance 2.0 Pro 1080p at 160 credits per 4 seconds and Seedance 2.0 Fast at 116 credits per 4 seconds. Images cost 8 credits each for Gen-4 Image at 1080p and 2 for Gen-4 Image Turbo. Audio is also metered: text to speech is 1 credit per 50 characters.
Over a year of annual Standard, that is 125 Gen-4.5 videos of 5 seconds, or 46 Seedance 2.0 Pro clips of 4 seconds, according to Runway’s table. A 30-second ad assembled from six 5-second Gen-4.5 shots uses 360 credits if every shot works first time (our arithmetic). Plan on retries: if you keep one take in three, the same ad needs about 1,080 credits, more than a month of Standard.
Runway pricing for images and audio
The same credits pay for stills and sound, which matters if you build a whole ad inside Runway. On October 21, 2026 the pricing table listed Gen-4 Image at 1080p for 8 credits an image, Gen-4 Image Turbo for 2, Nano Banana Pro at 2K for 20 and Nano Banana Pro 2 at 2K for 11. For audio it listed Seed Audio 1.0 at 15 credits a minute, Lyria 3 Pro at 8 credits a song, Lyria 3 Clip at 4 and text to speech at 1 credit per 50 characters. Runway’s yearly figures for annual Standard are 937 Gen-4 images, 500 minutes of Seed Audio or 937 Lyria 3 Pro songs. Every still or voice line you generate comes out of the pool you were counting on for video, so plan the split before the month starts.
The free credits
The free plan is a single deposit of 125 credits that does not expire. That is enough to try a couple of short Gen-4.5 generations or a batch of images, not to produce a series. The pricing page does not say whether free generations are watermarked or can be used commercially, so we list both as unverified. Compare it with other free tiers in AI video free plans compared.
Rollover and top-ups
On Standard and Pro, monthly credits reset within 24 hours of the billing date, so unused credits are lost. On Max, up to one month of unused credits rolls over. Extra credits can be bought from Plans & Billing with a minimum purchase of 1,000 credits, and purchased credits never expire. Upgrades are prorated and add credits immediately; a downgrade applies the unused balance to the next cycle.
Which Runway plan to choose
- Trying the models: the free 125 credits.
- A few shots a week: Standard, if 52 seconds of Gen-4.5 a month covers your keepers and retries.
- Regular ads or music videos: Pro, which more than triples the credits for a bit over twice the price and adds Seedance 2.5 and Topaz upscaling.
- Heavy production: Max, the only plan where unused credits roll over.
