Veo pricing: what Google Veo 3.1 costs per second and per plan

Veo is Google’s AI video model. Developers pay for it per second of video through the Gemini API or Google Cloud, and everyone else gets it through Google AI plans in the Gemini app and Flow. This page lays out Veo pricing for each route, read from Google’s official pricing pages on October 22, 2026.

Documentation check, not a scored test. Every price on this page comes from Google’s own pricing pages in USD, read on October 22, 2026. The Gemini API pricing page was last updated on October 19, 2026. Update, October 22, 2026: the Veo 3.1 preview models reached their scheduled shutdown date today; see the October 2026 change. Google’s pricing pages, re-read this evening, show no price changes. Per-clip and per-minute totals are our own multiplication and are labelled.

Short answer

  • Veo 3.1: $0.40 per second of video with audio at 720p or 1080p, $0.60 per second in 4K.
  • Veo 3.1 Fast: $0.10 per second at 720p, $0.12 at 1080p and $0.30 in 4K.
  • Veo 3.1 Lite: the cheapest Veo price, $0.05 per second at 720p and $0.08 at 1080p. No 4K.
  • Silent video is cheaper on Google Cloud: Veo 3.1 without audio is listed at $0.20 at 720p or 1080p.
  • No API free tier: the Gemini API lists Veo as not available on the free tier. In the Gemini app, Veo comes with paid Google AI plans: a limited Veo 3.1 Lite trial on AI Pro ($19.99 a month) and Veo 3.1 on AI Ultra (from $99.99 a month).

Veo price per second on the Gemini API

The Gemini Developer API charges for Veo by the second of generated video. These are the paid tier prices for video with audio, which is the default:

Veo price per second on the Gemini API, video with audio, USD, read October 22, 2026
Model720p1080p4KFree tier
Veo 3.1$0.40$0.40$0.60Not available
Veo 3.1 Fast$0.10$0.12$0.30Not available
Veo 3.1 Lite$0.05$0.08Not supportedNot available

Google notes that an audio processing issue can occasionally stop a video from being generated, and that you are only charged when a video is generated successfully. The page also says paid tier data is not used to improve Google’s products, while free tier data is.

Veo pricing on Google Cloud

Google Cloud’s generative AI pricing page for the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (the old Vertex AI pricing address now redirects there) lists the same Veo 3.1 prices for video with audio, and adds cheaper rates for silent video and for older Veo models. Google writes each price as a rate per “count”; the Gemini API page gives the identical with-audio figures per second.

Veo 3.1 Lite$0.05 (720p); $0.08 (1080p)$0.03 (720p); $0.05 (1080p)
Veo 3$0.40 (720p, 1080p)$0.20 (720p, 1080p)

Veo 2Not listed$0.50 (720p)

Veo 2 also has Advanced Controls (start and end frame interpolation, extending a generated video and camera controls) at $0.50 at 720p. If you pay in another currency, Google says the prices for your currency on Cloud Platform SKUs apply.

What a Veo clip costs

Because Veo is billed per second, the price of a clip is its length times the rate. Our multiplication of Google’s per-second prices, for video with audio:

Veo cost per clip and per minute, our arithmetic from Google’s per-second prices, USD
Model and resolution8-second clipOne minute
Veo 3.1, 720p or 1080p$3.20$24.00
Veo 3.1, 4K$4.80$36.00
Veo 3.1 Fast, 1080p$0.96$7.20
Veo 3.1 Fast, 720p$0.80$6.00
Veo 3.1 Lite, 1080p$0.64$4.80
Veo 3.1 Lite, 720p$0.40$3.00

These totals assume every generation is kept. In practice you will run several takes for each shot you use, so budget for retries. Silent Veo 3.1 video on Google Cloud halves the standard rate, to $1.60 for 8 seconds or $12 a minute.

Veo in Google AI plans

If you do not want an API account, Veo comes through Google AI subscriptions, which cover the Gemini app and Google’s Flow creative studio. US prices from Google’s subscriptions page:

Google AI plans and video generation, US prices, read October 22, 2026
PlanPriceGoogle Flow creditsWhat Google says about video
Free$0 a monthLimited Flow accessFlow access includes limited Nano Banana Pro (an image model); no Veo mentioned
Google AI Plus$4.99 a month200Access to “more features like video generation”; Flow with Gemini Omni Flash
Google AI Pro$19.99 a month1,000A limited trial of Veo 3.1 Lite; Flow with Gemini Omni Flash
Google AI UltraFrom $99.99 a month (5× AI Pro limits) or $199.99 (20×)10,000 or 25,000Video generation with Veo 3.1; Flow with Gemini Omni Flash

The subscriptions page does not say how many Veo videos each plan allows, or how many Flow credits a Veo clip uses, so we cannot turn these plans into a price per video. Plans also include storage and other Google features, and prices and availability vary by country.

Is Veo free?

Not really. On the Gemini API, all three Veo 3.1 models are listed as not available on the free tier. In the Gemini app, Google’s subscriptions page ties Veo to paid plans: a limited trial of Veo 3.1 Lite on Google AI Pro and Veo 3.1 on Google AI Ultra. The free plan’s Flow access, as described, covers limited Nano Banana Pro image generation rather than Veo. For other tools with real free plans, see our AI video free plans list.

The October 2026 change

Dated note, October 22, 2026: Google’s Gemini API deprecations page (last updated October 20, 2026) lists October 22, 2026 as the shutdown date for the three Veo 3.1 preview models: veo-3.1-generate-preview and veo-3.1-fast-generate-preview (released October 15, 2025) and veo-3.1-lite-generate-preview (released March 31, 2026). The recommended replacement for all three is Gemini Omni Flash (gemini-omni-1.1-flash). The pricing page adds a second route: the generally available Veo models on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. Neither page names the GA Veo 3.1 model IDs on that platform, so we treat those IDs as unverified. When we re-read the pages on the evening of October 22, the Gemini API pricing page still showed the Veo 3.1 per-second prices above, with the shutdown warning. We have not confirmed whether those Gemini API prices still apply after the shutdown (unverified). The Google Cloud Veo 3.1 prices were also unchanged.

The same deprecations page lists the older GA IDs veo-3.0-generate-001, veo-3.0-fast-generate-001 and veo-2.0-generate-001 as shut down on the Gemini API on June 30, 2026. Their replacement is again gemini-omni-1.1-flash or the GA models on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. Veo 3, Veo 3 Fast and Veo 2 still appear with prices on the Google Cloud pricing page, as shown in the table above.

Gemini Omni Flash, Google’s newer video generation and editing model, is priced by tokens: $1.50 per million input tokens and $17.50 per million output tokens for video. Google says 720p video is counted at 5,792 tokens per second, an effective price of about $0.10 per second. That is close to Veo 3.1 Fast at 720p.

Veo pricing compared

Per second, Veo 3.1 with audio is one of the more expensive video models. On our Seedance pricing page, BytePlus’s own examples put Seedance 2.0 at about $0.37 a second at 1080p and Seedance 2.0 Fast at about $0.12 a second at 720p, read the same day. App subscriptions price video in credits instead; compare them on Kling AI pricing, Runway pricing, Higgsfield AI pricing and invideo AI pricing, or the full AI video pricing tracker.

Which Veo option to pick

  • Drafts and tests: Veo 3.1 Lite at 720p, $0.05 a second, or $0.40 for an 8-second clip.
  • Social clips at 1080p: Veo 3.1 Fast at $0.12 a second, under $1 for 8 seconds.
  • Final shots and 4K: Veo 3.1 at $0.40 a second, $0.60 in 4K.
  • No sound needed: use the video-only rates on Google Cloud, which are about half the price for Veo 3.1.
  • No developer account: Google AI Ultra is the plan Google lists with Veo 3.1; AI Pro only includes a limited Veo 3.1 Lite trial. If you mainly want video, compare an app plan on our AI video generator picker.

How we checked Veo pricing

On October 22, 2026 we downloaded Google’s Gemini Developer API pricing page (last updated October 19, 2026) and read the Veo 3.1 and Gemini Omni Flash sections, including the shutdown notice, and re-read them on the evening of October 22, 2026, together with the Gemini API deprecations page (last updated October 20, 2026). We also read the Veo section of Google Cloud’s generative AI pricing page for the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, formerly at the Vertex AI pricing address, and the US plan cards on Google’s AI subscriptions page. All prices are in USD as Google lists them. The per-clip and per-minute totals and the silent-video totals are our own multiplication. We did not cover enterprise discounts, committed-use pricing or prices outside the US.
